Increasing access and the number of women's voices in STEM
THE JOURNEY STARTED WITH -
A passion for telling unheard stories
for understanding, for people, for STEM.
In October 2017, Prasha wrote an article at work for her “All Women Engineering Team.” She then thought about all her closest friends and acquaintances who have some amazing stories! She realized the idea of Women in STEM resonates really closely with her and the more she thought about it, the more she realized that a lot of things have happened in her life because of her choice of education. The education gave her and most of her other women friends, the freedom, independence and most importantly, a voice.
Through this website/blog & podcast, she wants to use her voice and the hundreds of stories of other REAL Women in STEM to inspire more girls to join forces to change the world!! Ordinary Women sharing Extraordinary Stories.
Since launching December 2017, she has interviewed 50 plus women and shared 30+ episodes on our podcast. Guests range from science communicators, scientists, engineers, teen STEM stars, non-profits working to close the gender gap, and school counselors. The website has hosted several blogposts including discussions about mental health in academia, career transitions and resources in the bi-weekly post called #STEMSupport. Recently, she joined the Stem Advocacy Institute (SAI) as a project founder and manager for Her STEM Story.
ABOUT THE STEM ADVOCACY INSTITUTE (SAI)
A think-tank and incubator in science development
At SAI, we envision a future where there is universal and equitable access, and also exposure to science for all. Our core belief is that education with a strong foundation in science is a critical component for global economic growth, social advancement, and ultimately, global peace.
Our current mission is to conduct research in-order to build new tools and insights to both understand and tackle fundamental issues of access in science education, outreach, and communication.
